How long does it take to build a kitcar?
This all really depends on the time you have freely available. Some customers tinker for a couple of hours a month or some are building every weekend. Typical build is 120 hrs.
What is the best kit car for beginners?
Our Mazda Vortx is a great starter car, perfect for Sunday afternoon blasts on the road if you’re not too sure about competing.
hOW EASY TO DRIVE IS A BIKE ENGINED KIT CAR?
Not as difficult as you may think, if you are not used to the workings of a bike engine a little practice and you will get the hang of it.
wHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ROUND TUBE AND BOX FRAME CHASSIS?
Box frame chassis are very quick and easy to make however they are not the best engineering soloution to create a spaceframe chassis. Using round tube allows us to create a very light, highly trangualted but extremely stiff chassis, that does not require the use of steel or alloy panels to increase its torsional stiffness
What changes need to be made to register a kitcar for the road?
Predominantly this is mainly lighting requirements and radius compliance of the entire car , don’t worry after 15 years of registering our own and many other makes we can talk you through it all.
How reliable is a bike engine build?
Generally they are very good , always try to buy a low milage engine with documented history of servicing , certain engines have special sump and lubrication requirements but again we can advise the particular modifications needed to suit your chosen engine
What race series can i enter?
There are a wide variety of championships, clubs and disciplines the cars are eligable for, with each car having an MSA approved rear hoop and stays there are no expensive upgrades needed to go from the road to the track
What is the cheapest build option?
Our Vortx Mazda is our entry level giving you a great car whilst keeping costs low due to being about to use as much of the donor car as possible.
hOW EASY IS A KITCAR BUILD?
On picking up your kit we do loosely assemble some parts so that you can see how they are built up when in position. Armed with a build manual, a team of enthusiasts on our facebook page and support from HQ it’s not as hard as you may think!
Can I ask you for advice?
Of course, it can be quite confusing for a beginner about the variations and possible upgrades that are availble. Depending on what your goals are from the car we can advise on engine of choice and set up. Better still book in to come to the workshop for a look around and discuss your options.
